Today I want to introduce Meike Heynens to you, she works as a Communication Manager for The Netherlands & Belgium here at Zalando in Germany. In the following she reports on two great projects she was currrently responsible for: “Zalando presents 10 Days Downtown” and “Zalando Blogger Awards” in The Netherlands. Enjoy!
During the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (4-14th of July) Amsterdam Zalando has sponsored the consumer fashion program that was called Zalando present 10 Days Downtown: 10 events, during 10 days at 10 locations. All these activities are open for everyone and are organized in collaboration with celebrated organizations from Amsterdam. The majority of the events were connected to cultural locations that are characteristic for the capital. With “Zalando presents 10 Days Downtown Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam” we focused on taking fashion from ‘the catwalk to the sidewalk’, highlighting the diamonds of the city Amsterdam and enlarging the awareness of fashion in The Netherlands. A good connection to Zalando’s idea of that fashion should be available for everyone. 10 days Zalando was visible on the branding during all activities and through the city on Abri’s. Also we organized some promotion activities during the events. All in all it was a very nice week where we could meet a lot of our customers in person.
Next to our presence at the Downtown activities of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam we also organized the Zalando’s Blogger Awards for the second time in The Netherlands. On Thursday 10th of July 200 guests were invited to attend the awards on the opening night of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. The evening started with a fashion & dancing show with designs of Iris van Herpen. After the show all guests arrived at the ceremony location that was completely styled in a fashion circus theme for this occasion. The guests enjoyed the ceremony and the winners were very happy and proud! We congratulate, Linda Tol of www.lindatol.com, Kim & Kelly Jaspers of www.we-heart-fashion.com and Lizzy v/d Hofstad of www.ourfavourites.nl !
Three months of preparation involving 60 Zalandos, 13 showrooms, 100 posters and 1,000 flyers – on the 20th of June, the Zalando Fashion Day finally arrived. The day focused on creativity and the finest materials and also looked to the future and upcoming trends.
The focus of the event was on the upcoming Autumn/Winter season and on styles and brands tailored fit our customers and what they want. The team pulled together to ensure the day was a real success and gave us an insight into what to expect in the Autumn/Winter season.
The showrooms were decorated by one of our teams, with thousands of stickers for real skate style, cotton wool clouds that hung from the roof and sweets in vintage jars or cute cupcakes for the kids’ fashion showroom. Key styles were presented in a number of themed showrooms: Denim, Trend, Young Fashion (presented in relaxed home environment with a TV, couch and packet of crisps), Lifestyle, Glamorous, Casual, Business, Feminine and Classic, Kids, Premium and Sport. There was also a fashion quiz: How many stickers are there on the floor of the showroom? How many accessories are hanging from the tree in the Classic Showroom? Or, what is Pippi Longstocking’s full name? The winners were presented with some fantastic prizes: 1st place a Nike Fuel Band, the 2nd -4th places were rewarded with a fashion tour through Berlin.
The day was rounded off with a BBQ and drinks in the courtyard, giving participants the chance to exchange their impressions of the day in the Berlin sunshine.
Rebuilt in 1928 according to plans of Berlin architect Georg Demmler, Golgatha as been THE beer garden in the Berlin borough of Kreuzberg for over 30 years now. We wanted to show our interns something special, so we decided to have the latest interns meetup there.
Located in the middle of Viktoriapark, it was the perfect setting to get to know each other better and talk about life at Zalando – not forgetting to have a beer and a bite to eat. The weather was perfect and at the end of the evening we went to the top of the Kreuzberg hill, which gives the borough its name. At a height of 66 m, we all had an incredible view of Berlin at night. It was a successful evening all round and we are looking forward to the next event. Want to know where we’re going – then check this blog or, even better still, apply here to be an intern at Zalando!
