Zalando leads the way for how companies will work in the future

Published on 24. May 2017

Did you know? There could be an 18 million person shortage in the supply of high-skilled, college-educated workers by 2020 in advanced economies in Europe and North America, suggests a research from management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. Meaning that companies have to work harder than ever to attract the best employees, shaping workplace cultures that will attract and keep the millennial generation. Something that Zalando is focusing a lot on now, as well as in the past.

At Zalando you can leverage the opportunities of a big player while at the same time having a start-up mindset. Our flexibility and agility enable us to move faster than others. However, our success strongly depends on our employees across all functions, from Tech to Fashion to Operations to Digital Marketing. With over 12.000 employees and more than 110 nationalities represented, it is a unique place to work, here in our headquarters in Berlin as well as at our Tech hubs across Europe.

Recently, employer rankings have honored our engagement in this area. We are proud to get the prestigious award as the number one company to work for in Germany in LinkedIn’s ranking for 2017. The LinkedIn award is based on exclusive data from more than 500 million LinkedIn users response to key factors, such as a company's social engagement online and the interest in open vacancies on LinkedIn - and Zalando came in first!

However, this was not the only award: Zalando was also listed as one of the best fashion companies to work for in 2017 in Business of Fashion’s new annual report. The independent resource for the global fashion community, Business of Fashion, surveyed over 2 600 industry professionals, representing more than 190 leading fashion companies from around the world.

"We are very happy about the first place in the LinkedIn Ranking of the Top Companies in Germany as well as being part of the Top Companies in Business of Fashion. The awards confirm that we are on our way to building a talent centric culture that reflects our values and how we work together. We want to reimagine fashion. The mindset: ‘We’ve always been doing this’ does not exist for us. Our employees from more than 110 different nations are motivated by a culture that allows them to speak up and create impact. Zalando is a company that doesn't wait to be disrupted - not in our business model, nor in our people approach.”, says Frauke von Polier, Senior Vice President People & Organisation.
